Over the next few days we're going to be showcasing the first five seeds we've chosen for the upcoming Obsidian Worlds release. These aren't random finds. We've tested them properly, flown around them and imagined what kind of communities they'd create.
This is the first one. We call it Tripeak Highlands
When we spawned into Tripeak Highlands, my jaw dropped. It didn't seem possible. I'd never seen mountains on this kind of scale in Minecraft before, and they were so cleanly cut just like real mountains.
You're standing on high ground and looking out over this massive green valley, and it’s framed by three enormous peaks. Not awkward terrain. Not messy worldgen. Just three properly spaced mountains forming a natural triangle around a wide basin.
It feels intentional. Almost handcrafted. In fact I couldn't have built it better myself; I should add, I've attempted to build many mountains and none came close to this.
We didn't need to discuss whether it was staying on the shortlist. It was so obvious.
The valley floor is so versatile, you could build anything down there and it automatically becomes that little bit more epic simply due to the gigantic backdrop of the mountains.
The shader we used made the clouds and mountain combination look just like the Misty Mountains from Lord of the Rings. The potential for epic fantasy builds here is real.
Everything about it is larger than life. I would be surprised if the area further afield isn't equally as impressive - but that's for you to explore!
Nearby you can find a tower and a destroyed portal. We didn't spot any villages too close by - maybe they're concerned about something in the mountain? We'll let you find that one out yourself.
We can't wait to see what you end up building here!
Let us know what you think. Next, we'll be going somewhere a little more tropical.
